Girls Track & Field: Germantown Academy Finishes Third at Inter-Ac Championships

PHILADELPHIA -- Germantown Academy's girls track and field team had an excellent showing at Inter-Ac League Championships from May 9-11. The Patriots compiled 94 points as team and finished third in the league.

The throwers opened the competition on Friday, May 10 at Germantown Academy. Despite rainy conditions, the Patriots earned top marks.

Layla Gentile '25 repeated as Inter-Ac Champion in both the Discus and Shot Put, throwing 106' 7" and 35' 11.25", respectively. Brynn Sweeney '26 earned a mark of 77' 9" in the Discus, taking fifth place. 

On Saturday, May 11, the Patriots took to Penn Charter for the second portion of the Championship Meet.

Lorelai Fortmann '25 repeated as Inter-Ac Champion in the Pole Vault, clearing 10' 6". Zoe Hellman '25 finished took second (10'), while Elli Wang '26 (8'), and Devon Geist '26 (7' 6") took fourth and fifth, respectively. The vaulters contributed 24 points toward the GA team total.

Nieve Keitel '27 finished second in the 1600m, running a PR of 5:10.57. The freshman also placed fourth in the 800m in 2:25.68. Piper Loney '27 placed fourth in the 100m, running a PR of 12.93. She also placed fifth in the 200m with a PR of 26.54. 

Jocelyn Germain '28 placed fourth in the 400m in 1:01.58. She was the lone 8th Grader running the race. Gabby Colucci '24 took fourth in the Triple Jump, clearing 32' 5", Myree Jean-Brian '27 cleared 15' 3.5" in the Long Jump to finish sixth. Kaylin Trent '27 took fifth in the 300 Hurdles in 51.40, while Ava Dalton '26 cleared a PR 4' 10" in the high jump to finish fifth. 

The 4x100 team of Loney, Colucci, Kayla Sweeney '24 and Jean-Brian, took third place in 51.01, as did the 4x800 team of Lyla Perry '26, Isabella Munski '27, Alyssa Burke '27 and Zoey Clark '26, and the 4x400 team of Arden Silver '27, Keitel, Clark, and Germain.

The Patriots continue their season on May 18 at Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association Championships, hosted by Malvern Prep.
